GOVERNOR OF THE PROVINCE OF NIASSA VISITS THE PROVINCIAL DIRECTORATES OF CULTURE AND TOURISM, AND INDUSTRY AND TRADE

As part of the monitoring and evaluation of the Provincial Executive Council of Niassa, Her Excellency Elina Judite Massengele, Governor of the province of Niassa, conducted a working visit to the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism on June 21, 2023.
On this occasion, Elina Judite Massengele was received by the members of the Directorate, accompanied by cultural demonstrations. She then had a courtesy meeting in the office of the Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Matias Chapungo, followed by a guided tour of the departments. She also met with the staff in the session room of the institution in order to assess its functioning.
During the visit, the leader of the Provincial Executive Council asked the employees to present their concerns, challenges, and perspectives for the fulfillment of their activities. The employees were delighted by the visit of Her Excellency Elina Judite Massengele, Governor, and praised the way she has been leading the province, highlighting the rehabilitation of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism as a clear sign of the sector’s contribution to the social and economic development of the province.
During her interaction, she first greeted the employees for their work in the development of Culture and Tourism, highlighting the achievements of the welcome campaign to attract tourists and investments to the province, as well as the preservation of cultural heritage. She also recommended that the sector continue working towards fulfilling the current year’s Plan and Budget, as well as the goals of the Five-Year Government Program 2020/2024.
In conclusion, the governor announced that the province will host an investors’ conference and challenged the sector to maximize the promotion of cultural and tourist potential through the production of promotional materials, promotional tour packages, and by persuading tour operators to improve their services in hotels, preserve historical sites, and organize the provincial phase of the 11th National Festival, Maputo 2023.
LICHINGA, JUNE 21 – The Governor of the Province of Niassa, Elina Judite Massengele, as part of the monitoring and evaluation of the Five-Year Government Plan 20/24, visited on Wednesday morning (June 21) the Provincial Directorates of Culture and Tourism, led by Matias Chapungo, and Industry and Trade, led by Fidélio Salamandane, to closely listen to the concerns affecting these sectors.
At the end of her visit, Governor Elina Judite Massengele gave a positive assessment, despite some challenges encountered in the Provincial Directorate of Industry and Trade.
“We have a positive assessment of the visit, as we are satisfied with the level of infrastructure rehabilitation and the fulfillment of activities, which is above 50%. Despite the achievements in these sectors, we have made recommendations for the improvement of some administrative aspects,” said the leader during the balance.
It should be noted that the Province of Niassa has 569 historical sites, including monuments, national liberation fight bases, museums, rock paintings, mass graves, iron smelting furnaces, and tombs, among others. It also has five public libraries located in the districts of Lichinga, Marrupa, Mecula, and Lago.
Regarding the overall production of the Industry and Trade sector, it contributed approximately 388,496,300.00MZN during the period from January to March 2023, with a significant focus on the commercialization of food products, which amounted to 379,089,300.00MZN.
LICHINGA, June 20 – The Secretary-General of the Mozambican Youth Organization (OJM), Silva Fernando Livone, was received in an audience on Tuesday, June 20, by the Governor of Niassa Province, Elina Judite Massengele, as part of his working visit to the province of Niassa.
In his remarks, among various political aspects discussed, Silva Livone made every effort to acknowledge the work being done to promote, disseminate, and communicate the image and achievements of the Government of Niassa Province.
“No need for reports, just turn on the television, radio, newspapers, and social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and others, and you will find the daily accomplishments of the Provincial Executive Council of Niassa, as well as the day-to-day activities of Governor Judite Massengele,” he emphasized.
Silva Livone also requested that the Governor of Niassa continue to provide full support to the youth in this region of the country, and he expressed his admiration for the work being carried out by the Chief Executive of the largest and least populated province in the country, which holds many opportunities.
For her part, Governor Elina Judite Massengele expressed her satisfaction with the visit and assured that she would continue to do her utmost in her governance, aiming to leave a legacy that inspires young people.
It is worth mentioning that the Niassa Government Communication has adopted, as part of its Communication Strategy, not only ATL (Above The Line) and BTL (Below The Line) communication but also Digital Communication on both open and closed platforms.
VIII Ordinary Session of the Provincial Executive Council
On another note, it was revealed on Tuesday, June 20, by the spokesperson of the VIII Ordinary Session of the Provincial Executive Council of Niassa, Felix Chapungo, the Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism.
During the session, they were informed about the preparations for the Administrative and District stages of the XI National Culture Festival – Maputo 2023, as part of the fulfillment of the actions outlined in the Government’s Five-Year Program 2020-2024. The festival is scheduled to take place from August 23 to 27, 2023, in the Province of Maputo.
“In this context, the culture and tourism sector at the provincial level proposed to the executive the realization of the Provincial stage in July 2023, with the participation of 490 artists from the 16 districts,” said Chapungo.
Furthermore, during this session, the status of the Agricultural Extension from October 2022 to May 2023 was evaluated, as well as the Report on Epidemiological Surveillance in the province, covering week 1 to 23 of 2022/2023.
